Intro
Exploring art and writing with children remains a passion for me. I am energized every time I enter the classroom, poised and ready to share my collage art technique and implement ideas I have learned about motivating children to write. I have found that starting where children are comfortable--writing about themselves and their families, work.
In my Wide Wide World workshop, children are encouraged to write poetry about the uniqueness of their lives and then illustrate them, using colorful papers that they have decorated. Children weave stories and art around memories of special family members in my Family Ties workshops. Each was designed to help children find their voice and build self awareness. Let us encourage this in our children and spark the creativity in us all.
